Media Capture Automation

 I've been converting media (VHS Tapes, DVDs, Physical Photos since 2017). I've scanned around 20 thousand photos and several months worth of Home Movies and DVR Recordings. 

I've been wanting to automate the capture process for converting home movies and personal files on discs. I have been inspired by several open-source projects to design my own automatic disc ripper. Such as Jack the ripper bot. I know very little of the hardware side and would like to change that.

I want the disc ripper to be easy to use, easy to build and, if possible, the parts to be cheap. I've decided to work on the software side first. Which is an attempt to decouple the software and hardware. This post is an attempt to gather my thoughts and introduce some accountability for myself.

I hope to be done with an initial prototype by early 2027. Stay tuned.
