About Me

Welcome! My name is Paul. I've been collecting comics since 2002. The name Portalman originates from a comic character I created in 2003.  Back then, I would look at each word in the dictionary and add man to the end. See what sounded cool. I've been interested in comics and animation since I was a toddler. Chalk Zone, Freakazoid, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, Time Squad and Samurai Jack were huge influences on me as a child. The idea of being in one space and time and instantly being somewhere else really captivated me in my youth. All the cartoons I mentioned had a such a place.

The above scan is of a comic I made in 2009 of Portal-man vs Neon. The earliest costume of Portal-man was based on the early Phantom comic strips which my Grandfather used to read when he was a kid.

As of 2026, the costume has changed substantially. I'm still fine-tuning the final costume and all the supporting characters. Stay tuned for the new costume and origin story in early 2027.

I am currently looking for work as a software developer. My hobbies include drawing, writing, animating, helping friends and relatives with technology, programming, learning Spanish and converting media for my family. Such as home movies and physical photos. As of 2026, I've converted over 20,000 photos and around several months worth of home movies. This blog is for me to post what I'm up to every few weeks.

In the above picture, I am the child in the middle.
